Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information SOMEWHERE collects, why we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.
Effective August 8, 2026
1. Overview
SOMEWHERE Studio, Inc. (“SOMEWHERE,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the SOMEWHERE mobile application, meetsomewhere.co, and related products and services (collectively, the “Services”). SOMEWHERE is a social and dating service that helps adults connect through shared places, interests, and taste.
This Privacy Policy applies when you use the Services, join our waitlist, contact us, or otherwise interact with SOMEWHERE. By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described here.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account and contact information, such as your phone number, email address, login details, and account identifiers.
- Profile information, such as your name, date of birth, city, photos, voice introduction, biography, dating preferences, intentions, and other details you choose to share.
- Taste and place information, including places you save, lists you create, your Top 5, searches, and the preferences you use to shape recommendations.
- Content and communications, including likes, matches, messages, voice messages, availability, plans, event activity, reports, support requests, and feedback.
- Transaction information, such as subscription, token, and purchase records. Payment card details are generally handled by the applicable app store or payment provider, not by SOMEWHERE.
- Waitlist information, such as the email address you submit on our website.
Information collected when you use the Services
- Device and technical information, such as device type, operating system, app version, language, IP address, device or installation identifiers, and network information.
- Usage information, such as screens and features you use, searches, interactions, referral information, and timestamps.
- Diagnostic information, such as crash records, performance data, and security or fraud signals.
- Location information. With your permission, the app may use precise device location for maps and location-based features. We may also infer a general area from information such as your IP address or the city you select.
Information from other sources
We may receive information from authentication providers, app stores, payment processors, mapping and place providers, service providers, and other users—for example, when someone reports content or an interaction involving you.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and secure accounts;
- build profiles and provide matching and discovery features;
- personalize rooms, places, events, and other recommendations;
- enable messaging, plans, notifications, and other interactions;
- process subscriptions, purchases, and account credits;
- provide support and respond to requests;
- detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, safety incidents, and violations of our Terms;
- measure, maintain, and improve the Services;
- communicate service updates and, where permitted, promotions; and
- comply with law and protect our users, rights, and property.
4. Matching and recommendations
SOMEWHERE uses profile details, saved places, taste signals, preferences, activity, and eligibility or safety information to organize and personalize recommendations. These systems may rank or filter profiles, places, and experiences, but they are not used to make legal or similarly significant decisions about you.
6. Location information
Precise device location is optional and used only after you grant permission. It may support nearby places, maps, plans, events, and time-limited availability features. You can change location access in your device settings, though some features may then be limited. We design our systems to restrict access to precise location, use coarse place or neighborhood signals when practical, and avoid retaining raw coordinates longer than needed for the relevant feature.
7. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, keep accounts secure, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, meet legal obligations, and maintain legitimate business records. Retention periods vary by the type of information and why we use it.
If you delete your account, we will begin deleting or de-identifying associated information, subject to limited exceptions for legal, security, fraud-prevention, safety, backup, and transaction-record purposes. Content you shared with others may remain visible in their accounts where appropriate, such as messages they received.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision about a privacy request. You may exercise available controls in the app or contact us. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
- Update profile and preference information in the app.
- Request an account export or delete your account in settings.
- Control location, camera, microphone, photo-library, and notification permissions through your device.
- Use unsubscribe instructions in promotional email. We may still send necessary service messages.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
9. Safety and moderation
We may review reports, relevant account information, and content when necessary to investigate safety concerns, enforce our rules, or support users. Access to safety information is restricted to people and providers who need it for those purposes, and we do not use raw messages, reports, or safety submissions for general advertising.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls and protected storage for private media. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account and contact us if you believe it has been compromised.
11. International data transfers
SOMEWHERE and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
12. Age requirement
The Services are for adults age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 is using the Services, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services or applicable law changes. We will post the updated policy, revise the effective date, and provide additional notice when required.
